Message from the President

Dear IAF Community,

On June 25, 2022, we were proud to celebrate Idyllwild Arts’ inaugural Founders Day. As President of Idyllwild Arts Foundation, I felt a calling in my spirit to pause the frenzy of leading this school in order to celebrate the school’s sacred legacy and pay tribute to the extraordinary vision of our Founders, Max and Bee Krone, and the many others who have contributed to Idyllwild Arts throughout the organization’s history. It was a wonderful occasion to fondly reminisce and cherish our shared experiences at Idyllwild Arts, and I was pleased to see so many new and familiar faces on the mountain, including many who came a great distance to join us.

Our special program included tours of the museum, the gallery, and the many recent improvements around campus. We announced the renaming of our National Honor Society chapter as the “Dr. Robert M. Krone National Honor Society Chapter of Idyllwild Arts Academy,” and celebrated as the Riverside County Board of Supervisors officially declared June 25, 2022 as Idyllwild Arts Founders Day! We welcomed back Idyllwild Arts Academy Founding Headmaster William (Bill) M. Lowman, who was instrumental in building and sustaining Idyllwild Arts Academy, and Dwight (Buzz) Holmes, who spoke about the masterworks that the Festival Choir performed under the baton of his father, Robert M. Holmes.

As the day transpired, I was struck by the reality of the many philanthropists whose generous support has allowed the school to impact generations of students, and all the people who have made a difference here with their contributions. I often say that Idyllwild Arts creates “magic on this mountain,” and Founders Day crystallized that for me. I was awed by the original vision, inspired by our legacy, optimistic for the future, and humbled to be at the helm.

I hope that you will continue to love and support Idyllwild Arts. I also hope you will plan to get a copy of A World In Tune, a book scheduled for release later this year, commissioned by Idyllwild Arts Foundation and written by Michael Fuller. And finally, stay tuned for more information about our next Idyllwild Arts Founders Day celebration!

Sincerely,

Pamela
