Message from the President & Head of School

Seasons Greetings!

Each December, I have childhood memories of waking on Christmas morning and bounding out of bed in anticipation of gifts that I hoped would be under our tree. In my younger years, I hoped for an Easy-Bake Oven, a doll that looked like me, and finally the enviable Boombox. As I grew older, my parents very wisely shifted my attention away from gifts I would receive to those I could give. Donating clothes, toys, and even food became the norm for our family. Fast forward several years and the adage, “It is better to give than to receive” continues to be a value by which I live today.

As President and Head of School at Idyllwild Arts, I am afforded the gift of working with others to provide the highest quality education possible for our students. Many of you give the gift of your time, talent, and treasure so that we can attract and retain outstanding educators and teaching artists who have the unique talents to challenge yet nurture our students. We see the impact of our gifts everyday as our students go out and make a difference in the world. It is a gift to see them pursue their passions, support their classmates, and create a sustaining environment that will support young artists from around the world for years to come.

During this season, I hope the spirit of giving, the appreciation of family and friends, and the desire to support communities and meet the needs of those less fortunate ring throughout December and the New Year.

With gratitude,

Pamela Jordan
President and Head of School
